The pineapple and watermelon trends

The end is near.

First it was all the nonsensical candy everywhere: drumsticks, donuts, lollipops, macaroons, cakes and cookies flooded Instagram, blogs and fashion online stores. And even if you think that trend is gone, it might still have ways to go before people realize how stupid it is.

But now there is another ridiculous graphic trend, a healthier, juicier, and sillier than life trend. Brace yourselves, it’s the attack of the tropical fruits part 1.

It’s like some white girl said: “donuts? Eww…” and fashion marketers had to rethink their food strategy.

Just take a look at this Pinterest board:

And then I found this monstrosity on Nasty Gal and I understood the meaning of Nasty:

My worst two enemies combined

I want to say this is good because it promotes healthier eating habits, but on the other hand this is just ridiculous. What are you going to do with that pineapple t-shirt 5 years from now? I know that when things are 100% polyester and only $6, people don’t think about that. But they should.

Part of being ethical when it comes to fashion is to consider the useful life and quality of your clothes. If you love it, and it is awesome, and it makes you feel incredible, ok, go for it. But if you are getting it just because it exists, please rethink and get a more basic garment (that’s what I do when I find myself thinking like a teenager wanting colorful things I know I won’t wear enough times to justify the cost]).
